The Viking Princess (what a beaut)

We are going to get to know this baby well, grow to love her..............

Starting to acclimatise

Started the long process today of getting used to the cold and took a less than hot shower. I have to admit after the initial shock it was not too bad and by the end was feeling pretty good. I am feeling encouraged, as 10/11 months of cool/cold showers was something I was dreading.
Folowing our meeting I am awaiting a response from the French Immigration Service on how best we can enter France following the swim, and from the Enduroman site which may well have the answers to all of our logistical questions.
I am looking forward to starting my winter training next week, and like Patters am going to have to do a lot of left side breathing to break the habit of a life time.

GULP GULP GULP

Well after our first meeting to discuss the challenge ahead i went home, feeling excited but not underestimating the fear factor of what lies ahead...or more realistically what will be lying underneath those dark murky cold waves...gulp ! Actually having now read the 39 pages of the info/registration pack I am feeling rather more calm-my major concern now is how i am going to wipe all that nasty grease off that nice man's boat...I am sure me, Reg and the Viking Princess are going to become very close friends ..

First Left-sided Swim session

Yesterday was the first left sided swim session. So much harder than I anticipated, I'm back to where I was a couple of years ago. On the plus side Merv, sub 11 hours at UK Ironman, said his swim was the same when he swapped sides and now he prefers his new side and is quicker so every cloud etc.

Off to do some swim-type gym stuff now.

Off for beers and curry tonight so will undo all the good work of the last couple of days (3 runs, 2 swim and gym) in one night.

First Get together

First meeting on monday in the pub at Pirton. Much excitement and anticipation and an action for me to get this blog up and running!

So its now dawning on me what I need to do by September next year.
  • Learn to breathe on left side
  • Start doing swim specific weights
  • Get used to the cold.
